We all dream of a life where we can pursue our passions, live with purpose, and find true fulfilment. But too often, we fall into the trap of saying, "I'll do it later." This habit of procrastination is our biggest lie, and it keeps us from living the intentional life we desire.

We tell ourselves:

  • I’ll do it later
  • I’ll do it tomorrow
  • I’ll do it when I wake up
  • I’ll do it when I finish this
  • I’ll do it when it’s easier
  • I’ll do it when I retire

You're not saying you're never going to do it. You're saying you're going to do it later.

But you’re not.

Learning to overcome procrastination is transformative. When you take action today, you reclaim your time and control over your life. You'll experience less stress, more productivity, and a greater sense of achievement. Imagine the freedom and satisfaction of living each day with purpose, no longer bound by the illusion of "later."

Unfortunately, despite these benefits, many people never make the change. They continue to put off their dreams, thinking they’ll start tomorrow. But tomorrow never comes.

The biggest lie in the world is that you’ll do it later, but the truth is, you won’t unless you change your approach today.

Here’s how step by step:

Step 1: Start Small

You can start with small, manageable tasks. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Start today, even if it’s just a small step. If you want to get fitter, just get used to going outside after you wake up.

Starting small helps build momentum and confidence. It’s easier to keep going once you’ve begun.

Try this out:

  • Set a timer for 10 minutes and work on a task.
  • Make a quick outline of your goal instead of waiting to draft a perfect plan.

Step 2: Set Clear, Achievable Goals

Define what you want to achieve with specific, actionable steps. Clarity helps combat the urge to procrastinate.

People often set vague goals, which can lead to confusion and delay. Be precise about what you want to accomplish.

Here's how to avoid it:

  • Break down your goal into smaller steps.
  • Set deadlines for each step/milestone to maintain progress.

Step 3: Embrace Imperfection

Accept that not everything will be perfect. Progress is better than perfection.

Striving for perfection can cause paralysis. By embracing imperfection, you allow yourself to move forward and learn from the process. For me, there's comfort in knowing there are 1.000 routes to Rome. That's why I try to ship quickly and become better at seeing what works and what does not.

By taking these steps, you’ll achieve more and feel more fulfilled. Each action builds toward a life of intentionality and purpose.

In Summary:

To stop procrastinating and start living intentionally:

  • Start with small, manageable tasks today.
  • Set clear, achievable goals with actionable steps.
  • Embrace imperfection and focus on progress.
